United Nations Seventieth Anniversary

Seventy years ago, on 26th of June delegates of 50 states met each other to create the charter of an international organization to protect future generations from the scourge of war: the United Nations.

The United Nations, which has been rose from the ashes of the World War II in 1945, is a unique experience of human cooperation to achieve the great aspirations of peace; the experience which both its achievements and unsuccessfulness are in need of further assessment. Today, based on the UN Charter and various interpretations of it, the United Nations has played an undeniable role in all aspects of human life and has become to the sturdy tree with resilient roots (even theoretical) in the  thought of governments and international community that its widespread branches in political, economic, social and cultural activities need accurate consideration.

The UN Charter is a result of the collective attempts of the participants in “the United Nations Conference on International Organizations” which was signed by 50 states on June 26, 1945 in San Francisco. The United Nations officially was established on October 24, 1945.

From the Last winter, coinciding with the beginning of the 15th year of the Iranian Association for the United Nations studies and 70 years of the United Nations, this association has found an opportunity to organize the series of events in order to evaluate and promote the related topics. The association plans to commence its special programs simultaneously with the UN General Assembly in September and continue till November with its annual conference.
