The Iranian Association for United Nations Studies, in collaboration with the Presidential Center for International legal Affairs organized a training course on “Water Resources Law” on 17th, 18th and 19th of February 2015.

This training course was held with attendance of 61 participants including Jurists, water engineers and experts from governmental organs. Lecturers of the course presented their concerned topics and discussed legal and technical aspects of these subjects. At the end of each topic the attendees participated in a question-answer session. 

The international water resources law, water and international peace and security, the human right to safe drinking water, climate change and its effects on management of water according to international law, women and water, the legal regime for the exploitation of Hirmand River, protection of water resources during armed conflicts, the governing principles on transferring internal waters, the governing principles on exploitation of trans boundary waters, the legal regime of protection and exploitation of groundwater, waste water management in Iranian legal system, the legal regime of water protection in Iran with focus on the law of the Equitable Distribution of Water Resources, and the principles of protection and prevention of pollution of water resources in Iranian legal system, were the topics of course which had been presented by Dr. Reza Eslami, Dr. Ebrahim Beigzade, Dr. Hasan Savari, Ms. Niloufar Sadeghi, Dr. Mohammad Reza Ziaie Bigdeli, Dr. Mohsen Abdollahi, Dr. Zargham Gharibi, Dr. Masoud Faryadi, Mr. Mohammad Moshaver, Dr. Ali Mashhadi and Dr. Nasrin Mosafa.

The training session was begun with a speech by Dr. Mohebbi, the president of the Center for International Legal Affairs, and concluded with a speech by Dr. Mosaffa, the president of the Iranian Association for United Nations Studies.

In her speech, Dr. Mosaffa appreciated the attendance of the participants and considered such sessions as milestone to attract the attention of the students, professors, scholars and governmental organs to the water resources law both from academic and practical point of view.
